Ambassador Guidelines & Support

Our Commitment to You

We want you to succeed as an ambassador, and that means setting clear expectations while giving you the support and flexibility to do this well. These guidelines exist to protect you, your institution, and the Recall community.

How We Work Together

Authentic Promotion

The best ambassadors are genuine advocates, not salespeople. Here’s what that looks like:

Do:

  • Share your real experience with Recall
  • Be transparent when you’re an ambassador (e.g., “I’m a Recall ambassador, happy to answer questions!”)
  • Focus on helping peers solve problems, not hitting quotas
  • Disclose your affiliate relationship when sharing referral links

Don’t:

  • Spam group chats, forums, or email lists
  • Make exaggerated claims about what Recall can do
  • Pressure people to sign up
  • Pose as an independent user when you’re promoting through official channels

If you’re unsure whether something crosses the line, ask us first. We’d rather help you navigate gray areas than have you second-guess yourself.

Respecting Your Institution

Your responsibilities:

  • Follow your institution’s policies on commercial activities, promotions, and student organization guidelines
  • If your school requires approval for ambassador/affiliate programs, let us know. We’ll provide documentation to help you get it
  • Respect your professors’ classroom policies (e.g., don’t demo Recall mid-lecture unless invited)

Our support:

  • We’ll provide a letter explaining the program for institutional review if needed
  • If your school says no, we’ll work with you to find alternative ways to participate (e.g., content creation without campus promotion)
  • You’re never penalized for institutional restrictions outside your control

Community Standards

Treat everyone with respect: peers, professors, Recall users, and non-users. This includes:

  • Welcoming questions and criticism (not everyone will love Recall, and that’s okay)
  • Being inclusive in workshops and content (accessible language, diverse examples)
  • Protecting confidentiality when gathering feedback
  • Never collecting personal data without explicit consent

Program Expectations

Staying Active

What counts as “active”:

  • Hosting a workshop or demo
  • Publishing social content or a tutorial
  • Participating in a feedback session
  • Representing Recall at an event
  • Engaging regularly in the ambassador community

Life happens: Exams, research deadlines, personal issues. We get it. If you need a month off, just let us know. We’re flexible as long as you communicate.

Program Duration

Semester/annual cycles:

  • Most ambassadors commit to one semester (3-6 months) initially
  • At the end of each cycle, you’ll decide whether to renew, scale up/down, or transition out
  • No automatic renewals. We’ll check in with you before each new term

Renewal criteria:

  • Met minimum activity requirements (or communicated when you couldn’t)
  • Followed community guidelines
  • Mutual interest in continuing

Transitions & Next Steps

If You Leave Your Institution

You don’t lose everything. Ambassadors who graduate or move on can:

  • Transition to Alumni Ambassador status with flexible requirements
  • Continue earning affiliate commissions on referrals
  • Stay connected to the founder network and community
  • Mentor new ambassadors if interested

If You Need to Step Down

We only ask for 30 days’ notice if possible, so we can:

  • Transition any active initiatives you’re managing
  • Conduct a quick exit interview to learn from your experience
  • Ensure you get credit for work in progress

No penalties, no burning bridges. People leave programs for all kinds of reasons. We’re just grateful for the time you contributed.

If Something Goes Wrong

Our Approach to Issues

We believe in education over punishment. If something goes sideways, here’s what happens:

First time: We’ll reach out to understand what happened and help you course-correct. Most issues are honest mistakes or miscommunications.

Ongoing concerns: If problems continue despite guidance, we’ll have a direct conversation about whether the program is still a good fit.

Serious violations: Only immediate removal happens in cases of:

  • Intentional fraud or misrepresentation
  • Harassment or discrimination
  • Violating data privacy laws
  • Ignoring repeated guidance after multiple warnings

You’ll always know where you stand. We won’t blindside you with sudden removal. We’ll communicate concerns clearly and give you a chance to address them.

Data Privacy

  • Never collect personal information (emails, names, demographic data) without explicit consent
  • If you’re gathering feedback through surveys, use our approved templates that include privacy notices
  • Don’t share student/colleague information with Recall without permission
  • All data handling must comply with GDPR (EU) and local privacy laws

We’ll provide: Privacy-compliant survey templates, guidance on consent, and review of any data collection plans.

Institutional Compliance

Your responsibility: Ensure this program complies with your institution’s policies. Some schools restrict commercial activities, require approval for student organization partnerships, or have rules about using campus spaces for promotions.

Our support:

  • We’ll provide documentation explaining the program (official letters, FAQs, program structure)
  • If your institution requires review, we’ll work with you through that process
  • If you discover a conflict with school policy, let us know immediately. We’ll find a solution together

Not sure about your school’s rules? Start by checking with student affairs, your department, or your student organization advisor. We’re here to help you navigate this.
